Ranch Country and a Historic Downtown
Spray Foam Insulation in Arcadia covers ranch and citrus country. Arcadia is the DeSoto County seat, on the Peace River upstream from Punta Gorda, and its history runs through cattle and citrus. The Florida Southern Railway arrived in 1886 and the town incorporated a year later. About 3,400 acres, including downtown, make up the Arcadia Historic District on the National Register.
Storm damage inland
Being inland did not spare Arcadia. During Hurricane Charley in 2004 the eye passed over the city with winds measured up to 109 mph, and Wikipedia reports that 90% of homes in DeSoto County were damaged and 60% left uninhabitable or destroyed. In 2022 Ian crossed the city as a Category 3 and flooded homes along the Peace River. Many homes here were rebuilt or repaired, and attic insulation often suffered.
Higher ground
Most of Arcadia sits more than 40 feet above sea level, with parts near the center as high as 65 feet. That is high for southwest Florida and keeps most of the city out of surge zones, though river flooding remains a risk along the Peace.
Barns, shops and metal buildings
Ranch and farm properties around Arcadia have plenty of steel buildings. Closed-cell foam on metal roofs and walls cuts heat and stops condensation in buildings people work in.
Costs
HomeGuide lists closed-cell foam at $3.00 to $5.00 per square foot and a blown-in attic at $900 to $3,600 nationally. Barns and shops are priced by the area of steel and the thickness needed. We measure each building and write a separate line for each.
